Today I road the 830AL. Its been a while since I have taken it out. I figured I would let it get some ride time. Since I was riding the 830AL bike I decided to ride clipless. Its been a while since I have used them on the mountain bike, probably over a year. I have always liked them, but my confidence level on them has never been that high. So riding a bike that I have not ridden much with a newish drive train in the mud was fun to say the least. I started to have some mechanical issues towards the end of the ride. My chain is to long and so in the small ring up front there would be the most evil chain suck, which would cause the pedals to lock up. Well I got good at bailing with the clipless. I have increased my confidence that I can get out quickly. So much so that I am thinking of getting a set to go on the SS. I think if I had them on the SS I would have substantially more power. With the rains we have had the trails were soaked, and by soaked it felt like we were riding through a kiddy pool. Although less then ideal conditions I had a blast. Its been a while since I have hit the trails and it was good to get back on the 830AL. One day when I can afford it i am going to rebuild that bike with nice new parts including disc brakes, which would have been nice today.
Well I read through the transcripts of the Iphone software 3.0. It started off unimpressive but I was quite impressed on some of the features that the phone should have had that it now does. I guess the first and for most is copy/cut/paste. It now has a pretty nice, from what I have seen, UI for that system. I hope they do an update where you can see your clipboard stack, hint hint, but this is a good step forward. They also added MMS, which I thought not having something my razr could do on this advanced of a phone was kind of backwards. Now they have it now I am closer to happy. Another addition is the ability to add a new contact from text. Say a new contact does a mass text to every one that they got a new number, it would be nice to add them into your contact list from the text. You can also do it from the number with in the text with the c/c/p system. Another Text addition is the ability to forward a text message which I can’t tell you how awesome it would be to do that. Also Voice memos are a plus, as well as the multi player online game. Additional support for billings and ways for people to extort more money out of people with their little mind addicting apps, which I guess is good for the developer, The pretense of the presentation is that its easy to make apps, and for a lone developer to try to make some dough. Additionally they made it so you can send more then one photo at a time in an email. I think this comes with the entire clipboard structure, so that is nice. Its those little things you don’t think about until you do not have them that really bother you. They also created a spotlight indexing type of system, I hope it just does not slow things down like when the mac is trying to index everything under the sun. But search of emails and contacts is cool, I guess I just don’t have that many people to keep track of, at least that I care about. I just read that Note syncing will be available too, that is really really nice for me since I use notes a lot at work to jot down those “hey you’s” that I get all the time. Lastly, youtube accounts, bluetooth stereo, and auto login(which I know I will hate).
During Q&A, they said they are working on tethering and trying to come up with a solution with att. I hope something comes through nicely b/c that would be nice to be able to do, haha yeah….. ummm.
Overall I am pretty happy with this 3.0 I am going to do some more research and see what I can figure out. I am going to look through their material and see what I can play with. I wonder if they increased the resolution of their accelerometers?
I got the other headlight in, and both buckets in. Did some wheel measurement as well. Added gas to the car got it running. Changed the spark plugs out. Again the car is running way way rich but that is nothing new. I was able to stream some video to qik. There will be links below. Tomorrow I work on trying to figure out the turning issue. If its getting new tires, changing out the UCA’s shims or doing some persuasive bending that is yet to be determined. Also I went out with my mother to find some material to cover the door panels with. We are going to do some custom work on those to make them all nice.
Today It was rainy in the AM. So I helped my parents with some stuff around the house for the work thats being done. After that when the rain stopped and it dried we moved the mustang back. We did some test of the rear tire clearance and I have come to the conclusion that a 10 inch wide tire is to much for hard driving, but for now it should be good. We worked on the front clip and made some pretty good progress. Trying to figure out the best way to put the bumper on was nice and fun. Ended up needing a 11/16″ short socket. We went out and got one and some new spark plugs. I also got the drivers side headlight in and wired up. We also installed the hood pin so the hood shuts to final location. We might have to lower the bumpers down a little more, we will see. Here are some pictures.
Today is the first day of spring break. I mad it home later then I planned(like always). Made it here about 8. Ate a nice dinner with my partents. I offically hate twitter right now. I was able to see some of the proggress on the house. It looked good from what I could see, considering it was dark out. We will see what the rest of the week has coming for me, I hope to get a good amount of work done on the mustang. I also found a cheap iPhone dock online with a remote which might work great for my sound car(iPhone); project.
Well I have done some updates to the site. I have been playing with the CSS. Made the top of the site a little more compact. I like it. Worked on some CSS in the admin section of the site. Also Did some editing in gallery. Go rid of the Image on top, and changed some colors for readability.
I was working on my data comm projected and Could not get it working under OSX, when I knew what I had was right. I threw it on Jason, and it worked. I wonder why it did not work under OSX. I am going to look into that tonight. My Test crunch is over for now. I have another Programing Languages project due Wednesday and an Algorithms Test the same day. This weekend will be busy.
So I got the info page back up, that shows the stats of the server. I was running at 100% disk swap which was not good. So I added another 512mb to that. I was running at 98% memory usage too, so I restarted mysql. That dropped it down to 94%. I was at like ~23 days up time on the server but I killed it to take out a stick of ram. I want to get more and wanted to see what it was. Turns out ddr pc2100, 184 pin. I also wanted to see what the original system was named. After some googling I figured out it was HP Pavilion 762n. I am not sure if i want to keep that system info public or not but for now it will be. We had snow the other day. It was pretty cool. You can check out my gallery page, I have some snow pictures up there. Been doing a lot of school work and work work. I got the Campus Safety page done on www.naspa.org that was very tedious. The content management system was less then stellar.
Last night we went to a parade in mandiville with michelle and her parents. Today we woke up early and left for new Orleans. We are in a large group on the conner of carrolton and corti street. The parade will be here around 7, it is 11am now.
I set up an app so I can write post from my phone. This will be nice when I am away from a computer and want to write a little post. Like this weekend when I am in New Orleans.
Below is a picture of michelle and I from outback on our v day date in tupelo. I am just testing upload.
So today Daniel and I went for a ride out at the research park, twice in two days for me. My Single Speed is getting quite a bit of use. Chopping the handle bars really helped. I had one issue of the grip coming off but that was no big deal. I meet another very nice biker also riding a ridged front fork Single Speed. He road with us and it was fun. He was talking about a log ride that was there that I have not seen before. He took us down to it. With out much thinking I went after it and I fell. So I looked at it a bit and decided that stating at the skinny end and that way makes you have to ride up hill. So I tried it again from the other direction and it was a piece of cake. No problems and it was quite easy.
